Growth through building membership and creating new chapters is the focus of our 2007 plan. The California Congress of Republicans (Congress) can help chapters by providing a vigorous program of meetings and an enhanced structure of communication.
We will work through our Division Vice Presidents to hold roundtable meetings at the local level. The vice presidents will then report on the growth and health of the chapters in their region. It is important that the chapters also send their delegates to the board of directors meetings.
A commitment of each chapter to develop a membership program to increase their numbers is needed to help us meet the challenge. If the chapters increase their membership and the Congress forms new chapters, we will reach our goal of building a formidable Republican force.
We need to support a meaningful Redistricting legislation so that our vote in California counts; make our voice heard on other important issues and support our Republican legislature.
The year 2008 presents us with the challenge of three elections instead of the usual two; Presidential Primary, February 5; Congressional and local Election, June 3; and General Election, November 5.
Because of our hard work growing our organization, we will be ready for these elections. We must be ready. With the Democrats in control in Washington D.C. and in Sacramento, it is going to take a major effort for Republicans.
Every Republican volunteer is essential to get the message out. Again we will have a vigorous program to elect Republicans to all level of government in these 2008 elections.
The California Congress of Republicans is a statewide grassroots volunteer organization that holds permanent charter from the California Republican Party. We believe that the power of the Republican Party and Republican politics resides in the grassroots volunteers.
President's Message
Carl Burton
CCR President 2005-2006
CCR's first job is to make sure
the Governor's reform initiatives receive the necessary signatures in order to
quality for a special election this fall 2005.
After the election this fall we need to increase our efforts to reelect the
Governor Schwarzenegger. Remember, CCR was the first statewide Republican
organization to endorse Arnold for governor. And at the California Republican
Party convention in Sacramento this last February the state party took the step
of endorsing the Governor for reelection in 2006.
So our second job is make sure each chapter increases its membership in order
have a powerful political team in place to ensure victory in 2006 for our
Republican candidates. And we need to reach out and form new chapters around the
state in order to increase our influence in the state. I plan to work closely
with our regional vice-presidents and chapter presidents to help them found new
chapters and to strengthen our current chapters.
As CCR members we are committed voters. But we need to reach out and find the
undecided and the indifferent in our communities because they decide elections.
We are the foot soldiers for the Republican Party in reaching the undecided
voters. We win elections one vote at time on a person-to-person basis. Our CCR
chapters must devise ways of reaching the undecided voters in their areas. I
will work with our regional vice-presidents and local chapter presidents to help
them with their out-reach efforts.
Our third job is communications and our publication Grassroots is a great way of
helping to keep you informed about what is going on around the state. But each
chapter needs its own newsletter. Your newsletter can do two important jobs,
telling our members about what is going on and as a recruiting tool. Each
newsletter needs to be a tool to recruit new members.
A second communications tool is for each chapter to have an internet presence.
It's one of the goals of your statewide CCR leadership to make sure this happens
before the end of 2005. To accomplish this task I have appointed John Madriz to
be our Technology Chairman and he will help make this goal happen. John was
selected as the outstanding male volunteer of the year by the California
Republican Party at our last convention. John is also a Voter Vault expert and
he has indicated he is willing to give training to our members in the use of
this most useful tool.
Part of any communications effort is an on-going Letters to the Editor campaign.
Letters to the editor of our local papers and magazines is one of the most read
parts of those publications. Each chapter must have a contact person who can
disseminate information to your letter writers and make sure their letters are
sent to your local publications. For help with your letter writing efforts,
visit our California Congress of Republicans web site and mail your letters to
the editor from our wed site; the internet address is www.ccrgop.org; you can
pick out your newspapers and mail up to five letters to five different
publications at any one time.
Your state wide CCR officers want to help each chapter in any way we can; please
let us know what your organization needs and we will try to fulfill your needs.
Our CCR goals for 2005 are:
To support the Governor's reform program
To increase our chapter membership and the number of chapters
To sponsor better communications among our clubs and our members.
As your new statewide CCR President, I'm following in the footsteps of great CCR
past presidents and officers and with your help we will build upon their success
and make CCR a greater force for moderation in the Republican Party and in
California.

2003-2004
President's Message
The blessing of one generation
can become the burden of the next. And so by 1967, Sacramento welcomed a new
governor and new pathfinder by the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan. He made old
values a new vehicle for reform and renewal. He exalted the rights and dignity
of the individual, and preached that government must be the servant, not the
master of its citizens.” [Inaugural address, Governor Wilson]
Governor Pete
Wilson experienced and conquered the ‘plaques’. Pete Wilson brought us from
huge deficits, aggravated by earthquake, fire, plague and locust----maybe not
locust and plague-----------and bequeathed the Davis administration a $12B
surplus!!!!!!
Just 5 ½ years
later, the Davis administration left the Schwarzenegger administration with the
same estate handed to Wilson.
BUT:
California has
a Republican Governor!!!! Arnold Schwarzenegger reflects the philosophy of the
California Congress of Republicans. CCR, the largest statewide, all
encompassing, grassroots, chartered organization, overwhelmingly endorsed our
new Governor!
The CCR
philosophy of ‘check the social issues at the door’ is practical. The recall
election was an exercise that illustrated the mindset of the California voter.
In 1967,
California voters realized that Ronald Reagan empowered the individual voice in
CA. In 1991 voters challenged the system with Pete Wilson.
Today,
California voters came back to roost! Apathetic citizens realized that we need
a leader, again!!! Arnold Schwarzenegger is that leader!!
Faced with a
tremendous deficit, a defiant legislature and horrible economic & environmental
episodes, the Governor-elect emulates the dedication of Reagan and Wilson, with
his own principles.
The California
recall results foreshadow the general election of 2004. With a strong
Republican Governor and a professional support team, President Bush will command
attention that will be second to no other campaign.
CCR, the
premier grassroots organization, will lead the charge to carry California for
George W, and to elect California candidates to offices from local races to the
US Senate.
